Cove is the Sub-Zero Group’s dishwasher, made to disappear behind a cabinet panel that matches the rest of the kitchen. You’ll find it next to Sub-Zero and Wolf in many Peninsula and South Bay homes, and Best Pro usually repairs it on the day you call.
Problems we fix
Standing water after a cycle. Pull out and rinse the filter in the floor of the tub — it’s the cause more often than anything else. If it’s clean, the drain pump, a kinked hose, or a clogged air gap or disposal inlet is next.
Dishes still dirty or gritty. Spray arms with blocked holes, a filter that needs cleaning, a wash pump losing pressure, or water that never gets hot enough. We measure the water temperature at the machine and test the heater and the arms.
Wet dishes at the end. Either the heater or the drying fan and vent have failed — or the rinse aid has run out, which matters more than most people think.
Leaks. A door gasket that’s worn, a cracked spray arm, a hose clamp that has worked loose, or a pump seal.
Won’t start, or the controls ignore you. The controls live on the top edge of the door. We test the door switch, then the control board, then the touch panel.
What your water is doing
San Francisco and much of the Peninsula drink soft Hetch Hetchy water. Soft water and a full scoop of detergent can leave glasses cloudy and etched — the fix is less detergent, not a new dishwasher. Parts of the South Bay get harder water, which does the opposite: chalky film on the dishes and scale on the heater. The technician will tell you which you’re seeing.
Panel-ready doors
A Cove door carries the weight of a wood panel, and its springs are set for it. If the door falls open or slams shut, the springs or cables need adjusting or replacing. We take the panel off and put it back carefully, so the cabinetry comes out of the repair unmarked.
Cove goes with Sub-Zero refrigeration and Wolf cooking, and we work on both: Sub-Zero appliance repair, Wolf appliance repair. For restaurant dish machines, see commercial dishwasher repair.
