Dryer Repair in the San Francisco Bay Area

Same-day service from San Francisco to San Jose. Upfront pricing and a 90-day warranty on parts and labor.

A dryer that won’t heat or won’t turn means damp towels draped over every chair in the apartment. Best Pro repairs gas and electric dryers of all major brands, usually on the same day you call.

Gas, electric, stacked and ventless

Bay Area homes have every kind of dryer. Older houses and flats are often plumbed for gas; condos and newer buildings tend to have electric dryers, sometimes stacked on the washer in a closet. Where an outside vent isn’t possible, many condos use a ventless condenser or heat-pump dryer — common in compact Bosch, Miele and LG models. Each type fails in its own way, and our technicians work on all of them.

What usually fails

  • No heat. On electric dryers: a burned-out heating element, a blown thermal fuse or a failed thermostat. On gas dryers: a weak igniter, failed gas valve coils or a flame sensor.
  • Drum doesn’t turn. A broken drive belt, a worn idler pulley or drum rollers, or a failed motor.
  • Won’t start or stops mid-cycle. A door switch, a thermal fuse that tripped from overheating, or a control board.
  • Squealing or thumping. Worn rollers, glides or the idler pulley.
  • Ventless dryer leaves clothes wet. A clogged condenser, a full or blocked water container or drain line, or lint packed into the heat-pump fins.

We find the actual cause before replacing anything, so you don’t pay for parts you don’t need.

Slow drying is often the vent

In San Francisco houses the laundry is often in the garage at street level, and the vent runs a long way to the back of the building. In condo towers the duct may go up to the roof. Long runs collect lint fast, the dryer overheats and starts tripping its thermal fuse. We check the venting as part of every diagnostic, and our dryer duct cleaning service clears it out.

FAQ

Dryer Repair: common questions

How much does dryer repair cost?

The service call is $85, free if you go ahead with the repair. Dryer repairs run $165 to $425: a thermal fuse or a belt at the low end, a gas valve or a control board at the top.

Why does my dryer run but not heat?

On an electric dryer it’s usually a burned-out heating element or a blown thermal fuse; on a gas dryer, a weak igniter or the gas valve coils. A fuse that blew often points to a clogged vent, so we check that too.

Do you repair ventless dryers?

Yes, both condenser and heat-pump models. When a ventless dryer leaves clothes damp, the usual causes are a clogged condenser, a full water container or a blocked drain line, or lint packed into the heat-pump fins.
