Double Oven Repair in the San Francisco Bay Area

Same-day service from San Francisco to San Jose. Upfront pricing and a 90-day warranty on parts and labor.

Two ovens in one cabinet means two of most parts — but usually only one control board, one power feed and one cooling fan. That’s why a single fault can take out the upper oven, the lower oven or both. Best Pro repairs double wall ovens and double-oven ranges. They show up in a lot of larger kitchens from Burlingame to Los Altos.

Reading the symptoms

Upper works, lower doesn’t (or the other way round). Each cavity has its own heating parts — bake and broil elements, or igniters on a gas model — plus its own sensor and door lock. So the cold oven’s own parts get tested first. Only when they check out do we move to that oven’s relay on the shared board.

Both dark. No display and no response usually means the thermal fuse has blown or the board has failed. Before you call, flip the breaker off and on. A double wall oven is on a 240-volt circuit, and if only one leg of it trips, the clock may stay lit while nothing heats.

Trouble that starts after self-clean. Cleaning the upper oven cooks the whole cabinet, including the board and the fan that sits above it. If that fan is getting weak, the board or a fuse often fails during the clean or right after it. We check the fan on every double-oven visit for this reason.

One cavity runs hot or cold. A sensor that has drifted, a door gasket that’s flattened, or a convection fan motor that has stopped turning.

Before the holidays

Thanksgiving week is the hardest workout a double oven gets all year, and it’s when a tired element or fan finally quits. If one oven has been acting up, have it looked at in early November instead of on the morning the turkey goes in.

Two-person jobs

Some repairs mean sliding the oven out of the wall, and a double wall oven can top 200 pounds. For those we send a second technician and tell you in advance; the extra charge is on our prices page.

FAQ

Double Oven Repair: common questions

How much does double oven repair cost?

The service call is $85, free if you go ahead with the repair. Oven repairs run $185 to $785. If the oven has to come out of the wall with a second technician, that’s +$85 per technician per hour (2 hours minimum), and we tell you in advance.

Only one of my two ovens heats. Is it the control board?

Not usually. Each oven has its own elements or igniter, sensor and door lock, so we test the cold oven’s own parts first. The shared board is the suspect only when those check out.

Should I self-clean before the holidays?

If you want to, do it a week or two ahead, not the day before. Self-clean is the hottest thing an oven does, and it’s when weak boards, fuses and fans tend to fail.
