Viking Appliance Repair in the San Francisco Bay Area

Same-day service from San Francisco to San Jose. Upfront pricing and a 90-day warranty on parts and labor.

A lot of Bay Area kitchens remodeled in the 1990s and 2000s were built around a Viking range, often with a Viking built-in refrigerator, dishwasher and hood to match. Much of that equipment is still worth keeping. Best Pro repairs Viking ranges, rangetops, wall ovens, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers and hoods.

Ranges and rangetops

Every igniter clicking at once. The burners share a spark module, so moisture in just one burner — or one bad knob switch — sets them all off. Wait until everything is completely dry after a spill or cleaning; if it still clicks, the switch or the module needs replacing.

A burner that won’t catch, or burns unevenly. Food in the ports, a cap that isn’t seated, a cracked igniter or a spark that’s too weak to jump the gap.

An oven that’s slow to light, sometimes with a short whiff of gas first. Viking gas ovens light with a glow-bar igniter. An aging one needs more and more time to open the gas valve, and one day it stops opening it at all. The cure is a new igniter.

Wall ovens

Viking wall ovens share the usual oven failures — elements, convection fans, sensors and door locks. What sets them apart is the door: it’s heavy, and worn hinges or springs let it drop open or keep it from sealing. A door that doesn’t close all the way bleeds heat and bakes unevenly. Refrigerators and freezers

The condenser on a Viking built-in sits on top, behind the grille, where nobody thinks to dust it. Clogged, it keeps the compressor running nonstop and the food warming up, so we clean it on every visit. Beyond that we replace evaporator and condenser fans, defrost parts, ice makers and water valves. See also refrigerator repair.

Dishwashers and hoods

Dishwasher work is mostly drain pumps, wash motors, latches and leaks. On hoods it’s fan motors, switches and lights.

Parts for older models

Some parts for early Viking models are no longer made. We check before quoting, and if a part can’t be found, you hear that before you spend anything.

Other high-end brands we work on: Wolf, Sub-Zero, Dacor and Cove.

FAQ

Viking Appliance Repair: common questions

How much does Viking repair cost?

The service call is $85, free if you go ahead with the repair. You get a flat price after the diagnostic. A glow-bar igniter or a burner switch is a common, modest repair.

Can you still get parts for an older Viking?

For most models, yes. Some early parts are discontinued; we check before quoting and tell you right away if a part can’t be found.

My Viking oven smells of gas for a moment before it lights. Is that dangerous?

A short whiff on a slow-lighting oven usually means a weak igniter: gas flows for a few seconds before it ignites. Have it fixed soon. If the smell is strong or lingers, turn the oven off, leave the house and call 911 or PG&E.
